Benefiting Assist the Officer Foundation!!
Since our inception in 1976, Desperados has always played a significant role in helping those in need. Fundraisers such as the Dallas Cinco de Mayo Festival, the Dallas Top Shelf Margarita Contest, countless Anniversary Fiestas, Savor Mexico and Golf Tournaments. It is our commitment to our community which fuels us to make a difference and the possibilities partnering with Assist the Officer Foundation very exciting.
Assist The Officer Foundation provides financial assistance to officers who are facing the loss of income due to a serious injury, life-threatening illness or other catastrophic events. Immediate assistance is also available to an officer’s family in the event of the death of an active officer. In 2004, the ATO Foundation inaugurated an unprecedented confidential counseling service tailored exclusively for Dallas police officers. The burdens of daily life can affect nearly anyone, but when compounded by the inherent danger and stress of policing, life can become truly overwhelming.
In 2024, Assist the Officer Foundation assisted 129 families, in the amount of $416.017 and covered over 23 agencies. $279,247 of which went to confidential counseling. The United States had 166 Police Officers killed in the line of duty, Texas was second most with 17 Officers.
